Art Commissions

I have been doing on a little extra artwork on the side lately. I love it! This particular ship was done for a friends nephew and I filled it with every word or verse God brought to mind as it took shape. I barely took any pictures of the process but here are a couple I took between my camera and phone. It is done on canvas paper, size A3, which is 11.7 x 16.5 inches.

I would actually love to be doing more of these so email if you would like a commission done for you or someone you know. I can do them bigger or smaller and on/with different materials.

Use the contact page to email me and we can see what we can do, work out a price and design, etc.

Scroll through my instagram to see some of the other ones I have done recently. There is a lion, some hearts, a brain, flowers and more. God always gives a shape and He always has words to fill it.

To see an extra large canvas one I did for my friends baby read this post: Baby Wave

Heavenly Blueprints

The past month has been incredible (more on it in our upcoming newsletter so sign up in the sidebar :) ) and I wanted to share one of my favourite things from it with you. We just finished running a seminar on identity at Bethesda House and one of the main themes was discovering what Gods original identity was for each person. We have an identity the is revealed through the Bible and all the verses that tell us who we are made in Christ but there is also identity in the unique design God created in each of us. We called this our blueprint. Before we were born God already had specific gifts and talents and character traits for each of us. As a staff team we spent a lot of time before the seminar started asking God for parts of the unique blueprint of each participant. This is where my favourite part came in! I got to turn all of those words into a real blueprint on paper for each person. Towards the end of the first week we gave them out to everyone. I love that I get to use art and creativity to display and speak the love of God. I was seeing blue and white for hours but it was worth it an I enjoyed every minute. I am no architect but I love designing heavenly blueprints with words straight from the Father

Happy Valentines Day and A Small Story

This past Wednesday at Awake I was at the prophetic art stall where you pray and ask God for a picture or word for the person you are ministering to and then paint/draw/create it on a piece of paper. It gives them a visual to take away that often speaks deeper than just words.

At one point there was a man who came and sat before us a bit unsure of himself but there none the less. You could tell he had it rough and was at Awake for some free coffee and a welcoming refuge from the streets. We told him to relax and then we asked God for an encouragement to give him.  I thought my picture a little odd but I quickly painted it and then explained to him what I felt.

His whole demeanour changed. You could see it in his face. A softening.

I painted a heart, bright and red, shaped with all the words God was saying towards him. Many words of unending love and delight and friendship.

It looked like a cheesy valentine.

But it was a valentine from God Himself and went straight to this mans broken heart and poured in real love. He was full of gratitude and after my friend prayed for him in Afrikaans he sat, relaxed and loved, letting the worship music in the room pour over him.

It was beautiful. Simple. Beautiful. My heart was so full. God loves so well. His heart is full for each of us and He wants to make it known to us everyday. Don’t get caught up on the world’s fake valentines and instead train your ear to the heavens where love Himself shouts His affections for you unendingly. Steadfastly.

Happy Valentines Day.

Baby Wave.

This is a canvas I did for some of our closest friends back home in Canada. This wave is for their second baby due next spring and their first little one who is now two and a half got a tree. I had to do it quickly before we left for South Africa because we likely won’t be home until after the baby is born. It’s sad to be so far away for big moments of friends lives but thank God for Facebook and email. These are just pictures of the process because it is really cool to watch the wave take shape and to see it fill in. I love that part of it as I paint. God keeps giving words and I keep painting them and then all of a sudden its finished and complete. Sorry the pictures are not that nice, most of them I took on a backshift, after I did all my work of course, (shhh don’t tell my supervisors) so the lighting is terrible. Oh well. You get the just of it.

The mama keeps a blog too and she is wonderful so go visit her website: http://courtneydignam.com/

Hope this inspires you to go and create and take the words God gives you and put them into shape.

Happy Tuesday from Muizenberg!

Art Outreach 07/11/2014

Today to end off a busy, full, full, full week the whole LBSC split into multiple teams to do outreach around Cape Town. I loved seeing everyone at dinner afterwards overflowing with testimonies and joy at what God did in the short afternoon.

I went with four other women to Kalk Bay to do live art and paint while someone talked and prayed with the people it drew in. Let me tell you something, people love art! So many came to us with questions about what we were doing and so happy about seeing art being done on the street. Pictures speak in a way words can't so having visual paintings being done of what God was saying about the town and people in it was very encouraging to many. We were able to invite people out to Awake, Bethesda's Wednesday night ministry, and pray for many others. Two people got saved which is incredible! It was lovely!

My painting was the one with the flower wave and I believe God was saying that He wanted to come softly and beautifully to people in that town and wash over them like a strong wave. So many people have heard about God but don't want Him because they have had their sin shoved in their face with judgment and harshness but God's heart is not condemnation towards people. It's love. He loves them! So I painted and prayed and asked God to come and refresh and wash over these people, drawing them into His gentle heart and allowing them to see His beauty leading to salvation.

I don't remember exactly why the other girls painted what they did but I'll add it later if I find out. I don't want to give the wrong description of their pictures.

Happy weekend!
